Bridging Words: Breaking Communication Barriers in Alpignano, Italy

From February 17 to 22, 2025, in Cascina Govean in Alpignano, Italy, we hosted an inspiring training course as part of the Bridging Words project. Young participants from Italy, Latvia, and Greece gathered to explore and reflect on communication barriers between deaf and hearing communities.
Promoting Inclusion and Understanding
The primary goal of the training course was to create an inclusive space where deaf and hearing youth could collaborate, share experiences, and develop practical strategies for breaking down communication barriers. Through various workshops, discussions, and group activities, participants fostered deeper mutual understanding and strengthened their intercultural and interpersonal skills.
Highlights of the Training
Interactive Workshops: Participants engaged in workshops focused on non-verbal communication, visual storytelling, and sign language basics.
Group Reflections: Daily reflection sessions encouraged participants to share insights and express their perspectives on inclusivity and accessibility.
Collaborative Projects: Teams worked together to create short videos and visual stories, capturing key moments of their experience and reflecting on the importance of inclusive dialogue.
Cultural Exchange: Beyond the sessions, participants explored cultural traditions from each other's countries, fostering stronger connections and friendships.
